Serena Williams, full name Serena Jameka Williams, is a world renowned American professional tennis player. Born on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, Serena is the youngest of five daughters. Williams started playing tennis at the young age of five. She and equally famous sister Venus Williams, were home-schooled and to this day, she is still coached by her parents. When she was nine, her family moved to West Palm Beach so she could attend Rick Macci's tennis academy. In 1995, her father Richard Williams pulled both girls from the academy and took over the coaching. Four years later, in 1995, Serena Williams, then age 13, played her first professional game at the Bell Challenge, in Quebec. The following three years she continued to build up her career. Williams started to make a name for herself during 1999-2001 during which time she became a top 10 player. From there it was all big wins for the tennis pro. Between 2003 and 2006, Serena went through a series of sad events like her knee surgery and the death of sister Yetunde Price. In 2007, Williams made a triumphant comeback to the top 10. Two years later, she was back at number 1, a place she is no stranger to as she was ranked number 1 by the Women's Tennis Association on five separate occasions. Serena's impressive career consists of 29 Grand Slam titles, most Major titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, two Olympic Gold medals, 5 Australian Open singles titles, singles and doubles champion of Wimbledon. After her 2012 Wimbledon win, Serena Williams was described as the greatest female player who has played the game by John McEnroe. Aside from being one of world's best tennis players, Serena has numerous off-court ventures. Known for her colorful and unique fashion sense, both on and off-court, Serena had a line with Puma and currently has one with Nike. She also collaborated with HairTech on a nail collection. Williams also ventured in the world of show business. She voiced several characters for The Simpsons, Higglytown Heroes, and her favorite, Avatar: The Last Airbender. She has posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2003 and 2004, had a reality TV show with sister Venus, appeared on MTV's Punk'd and guest-starred on The Bernie Mac Show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Drop Dead Diva. She also made a cameo in Common's music video for "I Want You". Serena and sister Venus Williams are part-owners of the Miami Dolphins alongside Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez and others. Williams is also involved in a series of charitable activities and has released an autobiography entitled "On The Line" right after the 2009 US Open. In 2012, a one-minute track featuring Serena Williams rapping was leaked online. Rumors that the tennis pro is planning to release an album immediately started.

In 2011, Serena Williams was named one of the "30 Legends of Women's Tennis: Past, Present and Future" by Time. She is the only female tennis player to have won over $35million in prize money.
