Lauryn Hill got some bad news recently.
The "
Killing Me Softly" singer was charged with tax evasion,
Gossip Cop reports.
According to reports, Hill, who now lives in New Jersey, is accused of failing to file federal tax returns with the IRS on more than $1.6 million in earnings during the years 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Due to that, Lauryn faces a maximum penalty of one year in prison and $100,000 in fines for each count.
She is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.

The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill", a huge success.
In 2010 she
announced she was planning a comeback.
