We been waiting for a lot of time for the sixth album studio of Deftones.
The band finally announced that the new record entitled "Diamond Eyes" will be available from May 18. Last release was 2006's 'Saturday Night Wrist'.
"Diamon Eyes" is going to be the first album to be recorded without bassist Chi Cheng. Sergio Vega (ex-Quicksand) will be playing instead of Cheng, who was severely injured in a car crash accident in 2008 and subsequently fell into a coma. He is still recovering. The album that the band was preparing with Chang "Eros" was abandoned because of the accident.
But the announcement of the date for the record came together with a free song to download in the official site of the band. 'Rocket Skates' the first single of the band will available to download since tomorrow.
Moreno said about the album that will be less about the real life: "I've been wanting to record a fantasy album like White Pony, where the lyrics are less, 'This is my life and this is what we're going through,"
The record was produced by by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice in Chains). Deftones also confirmed their presence in the Download festival this summer, which takes place at Donington Park on June 11-13.
