Spoke persons for the channel addressed the issue and pulled the episode immediately
Demi Lovato was straight to the point when expressing her discomfort about an ‘eating disorder joke’ aired on a hit TV show of Disney Channel.
Demi got really upset while watching the popular show Shake It Up. During the episode, one of the characters quipped, "I could just eat you up. Well, if I ate."
The singer and actress got furious! She has been dealing with bulimia and eating disorders for years, so obviously she didn’t find the joke funny. And it’s Disney Channel, after all…It just doesn’t make any sense!
Well, Demi ‘Twitted’ away her anger and posted a series of fuming comment about it: "I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an Eating Disorder and yet still make jokes about that very disease. nice." She continued: "And is it just me or are the actress(es) (on Disney Channel) getting Thinner And Thinner.... I miss the days of Raven, and Lizzie Mcguire."
She also sent a pretty direct message to Disney channel: "Dear Disney Channel, Eating DisorderS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT."
It looks like, eventually, the channel heard Demi’s concern and responded to her immediately: "we hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them... It's Never our intention to make light of eating disorders!"
