Heavy metal legend AC/DC will be present this year at the Download rock festival, running from 11 to 13 June. Megadeth, Motorhead, Them Crooked Vultures and Stone Temple Pilots are also confirmed for this year's event.
The Download Festival is a three day rock music festival which books only rock and metal acts held annually at Donington Park. The same place hosted the festival Monsters of Rock between 1980 and 1996. It was in this previous festival that AC/DC first played in Donington Park at the 1981 Monsters of Rock concert, but it will be the first time the group will be in this festival.
Organizers claim this year's Download will be the biggest UK music festival of 2010 after Glastonbury, because they expanded the capacity of the concert to 110,000. "It will see the return of the world's greatest rock band to the most legendary and spiritual home of rock," added the organizers. The tickets will go on sale on 29 January.
Last year, the festival received The Prodigy, Enter Shikari, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Pendulum among the bands that performed.
US band Deftones, Welsh group Bullet for My Valentine and Wolfmother from Australia have also been added for this year concert.
The name Download was chosen because it was a dirty word in the music industry at the time, due to file sharing and they want to keep rock being a rebellious genre of music. The concert also will provide Internet connectivity with its audience.
