The artist claims that the German car manufacturer used the song without permission
Don’t mess with Eminem! German car giant Audi has used one of his songs on a commercial for the new Audi A6 Avant. The hip-hop artist along with his production company filed papers against the company in a Hamburg Court this week. The lawsuitit alleges that the song was used by Audi without permission.
The track was actually legally authorized to be used on a Chrysler campaign.
A U.S. spokesperson for Audi has now responded to the lawsuit, writing in an email to Yahoo! Music, "The video referred to is not an advertisement. Also, this does not involve Audi of America. The video was not shown here in the U.S."
A representative for Eminem has previously said, "We believe Audi not only used Lose Yourself to sell their product without permission, but their spot actually feels inspired by elements of Chrysler's commercial campaign."
So, aside from the obvious legal matters, which obviously are the foundation of the lawsuit, is Eminem trying to defend the Detroit-based industry? Remember the guy is from Detroit!
