It’s too similar to Ritmo De La Noche!
Well, I have to admit I was pretty excited about listening to Coldplay’s new single Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall –which was released on June 3. However, I got really disappointed to see its extreme similarities to Ritmo De La Noche .
There’s an explanation though: "Chris was inspired to write the song after watching the film Biutiful by Alejandro Gonzalez. In the film, there is a nightclub scene - during which a track is playing in the background, based on I Go To Rio by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson. As a result, Allen and Anderson are also credited as writers on Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall."
The British band is kind of familiar with this matters, as they were sued by Joe Satriani in 2008 after he accused them of plagiarizing his 2004 song If I Could Fly in their hit single Viva La Vida. The case was settled out of court.
Despite the legal issues, which I’m sure they’ll be able to work out, I expected more from Chris Martin and the rest of the guys. I’m a big fan of the band. Don’t get me wrong, I love Ritmo De La Noche as well. However I’m just now feeling Coldplay’s new and very much anticipated track.
How about you guys?
