My mother learned this song in elementary school also and sang it to me as a lulaby. VS 5 (after the doctors came) goes like this:

My daughter wanted to look this song up because she forgot the lyrics but she remembered it from 3rd grade and now she's in 4th and still loves it! :)

I am THRILLED to find the lyrics... I would walk around the house singing this song but the only part I could remember was the first verse and my husband would look at me as if I were crazy. I learned this song back when I was in 4th grade I believe. I lived on Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan... I'm glad to see this song is taught everywhere!
