Sounds like Kristy was raped at a young age. Grown up now, he still cares for her but she hasn't gotten past it, even though it happened so long ago. He just wants her to be strong. His compassion is very endearing.

My moms best friend's name is christy and she lost her husband a couple days before christmas. she has a 12 year old daughter and 2 twin girls that are 4. christys other friend heard this song on the radio and told christy about it but the only difference is that her name starts with a c and not a k.

This song tells my story. I dated a guy as a teenager that I truely loved and wanted to spend the rest of my life with.I got preg. at 15. He left town and moved to tx. to make money and then he was gonna send for me. I was 25 weeks when my parents found out. I was beat that nite and 3 days later my baby died. No one in town was ever allowed to know, and he wasn't allowed to have any contact with me. 17 years later, and 3 failed marriages I still havent moved on..

WOW! i heard this for the 1st time on my new xm radio and was overcome with emotion!! I was raped at 15 by an ex-boyfriend and again almost 15 years later by my ex-husband ~ the song really hit home. I can relate to the line "Don't waste your whole life trying

I dont know what to say. I am speechless. I can totally relate and it was quite haunting to hear it on the radio. That is a beautiful song and I hope I never hear it again ;O) .. My PTSD.. is kickin right now! I did love the last part of the lyrics about "moving on and not trying to spend your hwhole life trying to get back what was taken away".. absolutely chilling and powerful. Oh and the other part that really stuck with me and rang true is when they say " oh the waves of time seem to wash away the scenes of our crimes but for you this never ends".. Damn Straight!! It was kinda validating to hear that. Anyhoo.. great song! I hope it will help a lot of people.

Wow...I had the worst day ever today and heard this song for the first time. My best friend I no longer talk to sent me a text with the station it was playing on. The lyrics really hit home and I had a good cathartic cry in the car...wow.

Wow...I heard it in the car and OMG did it fit, and then he sang Kristy are you doing OK? I couldn't stop crying and raced home to see if they had a list of "just played" as it sounded like The Offspring, but I hadn't heard it before. I found it by putting in lyrics and it's like written for me...and at a lousy point in my life it really hit me hard. These guys are so awesome, every CD is full of great songs with meaning and cool music.

My sister just left her husband after a couple years of a controlling relationship. I heard this song on my long drive home from work on Friday and it moved me to tears. I called the radio station right away to find out who the band was and I was happily surprised- way to go Offspring! My boyfriend (almost a yr now) started to play this song in the car, my 2 yr old daughter in the back car seat, and press repeat. at the time we just lost a close friend, i didnt really listen to it at 1st, thought it was about losing a loved one.... finally he said it was for me, i didnt get it. secretly i looked up lyrics, now im obsessed with it. it sucks b.c 2 friends new, but nobody said a thing, 2 this day.

I heard this song, and I was recently attacked and this song hit home. It has been about a year and it is still hard to even think about let alone try to deal with and move on from it. This song speaks to the millions of sexual abuse victims in our nation alone.it's about time a band acknowledged this horrifying abuse and im glad the offspring were the ones to do it. ive listened to them since i was a teenager. victims are silenced by the shame their abusers put on them, but this song gives them back their VOICE!

Stephaine I agree with Padraic, though you seem to think otherwise, it helps to talk, it hekps to just let it all out. Don't gather the seeds for yourself... My cousin christy was hit by a drunk driver when I was 19 she was 23. She spent the next few years paralyzed, trying to get back to some version of life before. She passed away a couple years ago and when I heard this song for the first time alone in my car I felt her with me again.the offspring did an amazing job with this song
