I love rise against, but cant stand this song. This gives our marines, soldiers and sailors a bad image. The people that do this are a very small group, and they do it because of what they have seen. To see someone you call your brother get blown up can push someone over the edge. You don't have to support the war, but always support the troops...

Look man, its not giving the troops a bad image. Rise Against wanst trying to bash the troops when they wrote this song theyre trying to show how the government manipulates innocent civilians into animals they wouldnt have otherwise became. its like liam said. they show you all these great things and give u every thing you want. but is it worth it, the government doesnt care. im sure Rise Against wasnt that closed minded when they wrote this song. i support the troops n i defiantly support rise against.

Turning civilians into animals LOL. It's pretty obvious you have never been in the military. Its just a job, I've been in the Navy a year and a half and its really no different than any other job except we might have to give our lives for our co-works and way of life. The real military and what you see as a civilian are completely different. Completely fucking different.

This song is so touching. A soldier has to do what his orders tell him to do even if he disagrees with it. In war, one sees things, feels things, and hears things that will change them. That's why most soldiers get post tramatic mental problems from re-experiencing the war in their minds and dreams.

This song pisses me off. My brother died in the war. He was an honorable man. He gave his life for his country, and now one of my favorite bands puts out a song about how terrible our troops are, and that they do not deserve our respect? It's one tihng to bash the war, but our troops?

Being a soldier, i just say that you are all entitled to your opinions. but also remember those who have died to give you that freedom. yes there have been incidents that have happened in war that we all regret, and would change if we could. that has happened in all wars, not just this one. if you want to talk to somebody about that just ask senator john mccain about the treatment he recieved as a pow in the hanoi hilton. i can honestly say after 2 deployments that i wouldn't change anything i did there, and will be ready to go a third time when called! remember freedom isn't free and somebody always pays for it. and if you can't stand behind us...feel free to stand in front...

This song is actually suspose to be showing you what the war can do to people. its showing you that war doesnt always have to be the answer. killing innocent lives isnt the right thing to do, damaging young peoples minds isnt right either. its not right to beat people for no reason just because they arent like you, or you can accuse them for doing something wrong, hmm...isnt it the usa that implies innocent until provent guilty, hey, he looks like someone that would be a terrorist, lets kill him, although he has a family. that doesnt matter at all, how would you feel if one of your family members were dragged away and killed? im not saying that defending our nation is a bad thing, but still, theres a fine line between, hey, you attacked us, now we attack you, what the hells that proving, is that what we're trying to avoid? what if someone from the usa hijacked a plane and crashed it into a major city in the middle east and they started attacking us every day, and started dragging fathers out of their homes? isnt that what we're trying to avoid? i mean, we dont want to be pushed around, but attacking someone back isnt right, nonviolent attacks are a lot better of an idea. could you imagine being a little kid and watching your dad being pulled out of your house? itd be like torture. im not saying that what we did is wrong but enough is enough. havent we killed enough people already? we could be spending this money on our own failing economy, or on helping the starving homeless in the usa, or helping the 3rd world contries survive. theres better way to spend the money than on weapons and heavy machinery and paying wages for the soldiers.

As I listened to this song and read the lyrics I think what Rise Against did, is portray times in Iraq. One of my greatest friends recently left for Boot camp for the army, she's going to be a medic. She is a hero of mine. She is the most determined person I've ever met and she will withstand anything. She has made me truly respect the troops. Everyone has their right to an opinion but if your opinion is not in favor of the people serving our country for us.. Then maybe you should keep it to yourself because you don't know what it's like in THEIR shoes..

As a former Marine and infantryman with combat exp, I defend this song.

The "she" part happened to me. In front of Saddam's palace in 2003, a car crashed through our barricade. We thought it was a car bomb speeding toward us, so we lit it up. Unfortunately, it was full of women and kids and an old man driving. We evac'd who we could, but we never did find out why they crashed that goddamn barricade.

Me again. For the record, I'm about as flag-loving and patriotic as anyone. Thought I should mention that. I don't think this song was Anti-American as most punk/pop BS has become. This song is balanced. Written about those who love this country, and will do ANYTHING for it. It's not as 'political' as have the nonsense out there.

This song wasn't defending or putting down soldiers...it was about whats going on in the middle east...the "she" part was a true story...a lady was walking toward a group of us soldiers with a bag in her hand they told her not to come closer or they would shoot,but she kept walking, so they put their guns up showing that they would shoot, but she still kept going, one of the soldiers opened fire on her thinking she had a bomb, when he did this his fellow brothers joined in, she reached into the bag and pulled out a white flag....in this song he ws talking about what soldiers are ordered to do...don't disrespect the troops....people have it all wrong its the government that controls this shit not the soldiers...they are doing what they believe is right...they are risking thier lives for us...even though this war was statred because some fucking rich boy wanted to get revenge for his father....

This is the best song Rise Against has put out so far (in my opinion). It tells the truth about how alot of soldiers really feel when they first join and then get out of the military. Every time I hear it it makes me think of all my family and friends who are or also have family that are either in or have died in the service. It makes me cry everytime I hear it. :,(
