This is my all time favorite song and it is sang by my very favorite artist! It is so heartfelt and true. I grew up on the farm that was my great grandfathers. My dad was raised there and me and my 5 brothers were raised there. It describes my daf to a tee! The first time i heard this song i said it was my anthem for my dad. I played it for my dad and all of my brothers and we came to a joint decision. God forbid the day comes that anything happens to our dad but when it does Jason Aldean's Amarillo Sky will be played for my dad at his funeral. It describes my dad and our way of life. The first two years my parents farmed they burned out because of no rain. But they held on. We were small farmers-only 120 acers and rented anoth 100 acers. We worked hard but it was a great life. You know that expression "knee high by the 4th of July?" Well to this day whenever i think of my Dad i get this one picture image in my mind every time. I went with him shortly before the 4th to see how tall the corn was. There he stood, his arms outstretched full length at his sides. They were so tan they had a black tint to them. He stood in total silence with this look of pride on his face and his arms outstretched that i will never forget and to this day cherish. Finally he broke his silence looked at me and with a small smile said "We did it Debbie. Knee high by the 4th of July. Now God willing and good weather it should be a good one this year." What a day, what a memory, what a man. My Dad the farmer, me the farmer's daughter and tomboy through and through.Thank you Jason Aldean for singing such a beautiful song that i hold so true to my heart.
