Garou, whose real name is Pierre Garand , was born on 26 June 1972 on Sherbrooke, Quebec. He is a French Canadian singer. Luc Plamondon, a Canadian music legend, noticed him while he was performing American blues tunes in a bar on his hometown. Garou became an instant star in France when he took part on the musical Notre-Dame de Paris as a Quasimodo. After his success on the musical field, he decided to launch his pop music career in Quebec, France, and many other European countries. In 2000, Garou could record a duet with super star Celine Dion called "Sous le Vent." Later on, Garou released his first album in English. He had big-time collaborations such as Rob Thomas, who wrote the single “Stand Up.” Also former Spice Girl Mel C teamed up with Garou for the song "First Day of My Life.”. Garou has a daughter, Emelie, born from a previous relationship with model Ulrika, and he is currently engaged to French singer Lorie.
